Timber Houses have become quite famous. Such structures are essentially built comprehensively of heavy timbers. If an open space between timbers has been properly filled up with wattle, plaster, brick etc. resultant structure is known as “Half Timbered”. Such structure was primarily used in olden days, however, have of late re-entered architecture field. Longing for extensive open spaces in addition to a shared increase in eco-friendly consciousness has perhaps led to an huge demand for such structures. Contemporary designs have been introduced making options or house plans almost endless. The structures are still being designed and built using conventional techniques but a lot of new methods have been implemented to apply them.
As a rule timber frame house plans are built in huge warehouses. Only expert carpenters and craftsmen build such structures using conventional and traditional means. The jointing however originally done by the lap jointing has been replaced by tenon joints and pegged mortise. No metal splines or brackets are being used in such structure. The frame, however, is fortified such that it bears the whole weight of a structure alone. Durable and dense wood like Cedar, Oak, Eastern White Pine and Douglas fir along with same others are used in construction. However, the trees are being cut down and sized to the needed specifications. They’re then kiln dried in order to increase endurance. However, the dried timbers are elegant and beautiful. They add a rustic feel to a resultant structure. Frame takes around three to six weeks to build timber frame house plans. It’s then systematically de-assembled and afterward put in the containers. Such containers are shipped off to the sites of construction where they’re rebuilt.
Such houses are very strong and extremely durable. They can withstand numerous environmental factors. Though wood could be coated with varnish for general protection it could be plastered over. However, the theplastering exterior of a structure would take away most of the beauty. Safety and health need to prioritize during construction of such houses. There’s usually a Health and safety professional part of construction team to help with personnel and to keep everything to proper code.
